Get organized — and stay in charge
Make a checklist
“Turn these notes into a simple checklist. Separate things to do now from things that can wait.”
Compare choices
“Help me compare these two options. Ask what matters most to me, then explain the benefits, drawbacks, and information I still need.”
Prepare for a conversation
“Help me organize questions to ask my [doctor, adviser, or contractor]. Use these general concerns: [add concerns without private details].”
Keep the conversation going
You can always ask:
“Make it shorter.”“Explain that another way.”“Ask me one question at a time.”“What should I check before relying on this?”
AI can sound confident and still be wrong. Asking it to check itself is helpful, but important facts need an independent source.
One habit to remember
Keep passwords, Social Security numbers, banking details, and private documents out of your prompts. For an unexpected request for money or personal information, pause and contact the person or organization through a number you already trust.
